Going on a trip outside of town is a wonderful experience especially if you’re with family and friends. However, packing can be a hassle if you don’t know what to bring. While some people say that it is important to bring many things, others prefer bringing as minimal as possible.

To help you with this task, we have listed down the travel essentials, so that you can fully enjoy your trip.

Travel documents

Before you plan on travelling outside the country, it is important to make sure that you have all the documents needed to prevent any mishaps from occurring. Here are some of the most important things you need to bring:

  • Passport
  • Visa
  • Personal IDs
  • Travel tickets
  • Health insurance cards/document(s)
  • Travel insurance information
  • Reservations and itineraries
  • Hotel and/or tour contact information
  • Emergency contacts and important addresses

Emergency kit

Emergency kits are probably one of the most important things to bring when you are travelling. Since you are not familiar with the place, it may take time to seek medical help if needed. So, in case something bad happens, we recommend bringing these items with you:

  • First aid kit (bandages, gauze, adhesives, etc.)
  • Personal prescriptions 
  • Pain and fever relievers
  • Thermometer
  • Cold medicines and throat lozenges
  • Diarrhoea/laxative medicines
  • Oral rehydration salts
  • Allergy medicines
  • Hydrocortisone cream/antibacterial ointment
  • Multivitamins
  • Sunburn relief
  • Insect repellent/mosquito net/sting reliever
  • Motion sickness pills or bands
  • Altitude sickness pills

Wherever you go, keep in mind that it is important to maintain your personal hygiene. However, if you bring stuff that contains any liquid, make sure that the liquid must be 3.4 ounces (100ml) and stored in a one quart-sized, clear plastic, zip-top bag. Here are some things we recommend bringing with you:

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash
  • Hairbrush or comb, hair ties, barrettes/bobby pins
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo and conditioner 
  • Sunscreen and face lotion with SPF
  • Makeup packed in a wipeable wristlet (For women)
  • Face wash 
  • Makeup remover and Q-tips (For women)
  • Moisturizer/lotion
  • Lip balm with SPF (You can also bring lipstick or lip gloss)
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Feminine hygiene products (For women)
  • Extra contacts, solution, and contact case
  • Glasses and prescription sunglasses
  • Prescription medication with the label/script
